CARROLLTON, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's golf team finished in second place at the Matt Dyas Invitational hosted by the University of West Georgia Tuesday (Oct. 24) afternoon.
The Mountain Lions and Clayton State University finished the 36-hole tournament with identical scores of 582; however, the Lakers won the tournament on a scorecard playoff as Clayton State's highest score (75) was one stroke better than Young Harris (76). Young Harris, which led after the first round, shot 297 on the par 72, 7,026-yard layout on the Oak Mountain Golf Club, while Clayton State fired a 292.
Valter Andersson and
Trey Pearson were both named to the All-Invitational team as they tied for fourth place with two-under par scores of 142. Pearson carded a 72 in the final round, while Andersson posted a 73.
David Wallin picked up a top-20 finish as he shot a 76 and came in a tie for 17th place at 147.
Anton Karlbom also shot 76 in the final round to finish in a tie for 45th place at 151, while
Ryan Emery tallied a 76 and tied for 47th at 152.
Young Harris wraps up its fall season Oct. 30 when they compete at the McDonough Cup in Orlando, Florida.
