YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Georgia Southwestern State University collected 19 hits as the Hurricanes edged Young Harris College 10-7 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Friday (April 29) evening at Zell B. Miller Field.

The Hurricanes improved to 24-24 overall and to 7-21 in the Peach Belt while the Mountain Lions fell to 12-36 and 6-22. The two teams conclude the 2016 campaign with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday (April 30). The Mountain Lions will honor their three seniors prior to the game at 12:45 p.m.

Every hitter in the Georgia Southwestern lineup had at least one hit and seven had two or more. The Hurricanes broke up a tied game at 5 in the eighth with two runs off YHC reliever
Jack Ganter (1-1). Alex Kranick doubled to left to score the first run while Zach Barron added an RBI single to left.

Georgia Southwestern added three more runs in the ninth to increase lead to 10-5, but the Mountain Lions scored twice in their half of the inning to pull within three runs 10-7.
Brett Westmoreland and
Luke Miller had run-scoring singles as Young Harris loaded the bases with two outs, but Mitch Holloway ended the game by striking out the final Mountain Lion batter looking to preserve the win.

The Hurricanes took a 4-0 lead after scoring three times in the top of the fifth, but Young Harris cut the margin in half as
Chris McGinnis singled home
Troy Kizer, who led off the fifth with a double to left-center field.
Nick Sexton later added a sacrifice fly.

The Mountain Lions tied the game at 4 an inning later as
Zach Beggs hit his team-leading 10th homer of the season – a two-run blast to right field.

Chad Adkins (2-0) allowed one unearned run in two innings of relief to pick up win for the Hurricanes.

Young Harris pounded out 13 hits against Georgia Southwestern. Westmoreland led the way with three hits while Sexton and
Jimmy Pinakidis had two apiece. Odom, Sexton and Pinakidis each registered a double in the game.
