YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Auburn University Montgomery defeated Young Harris College 9-0 in a non-conference women's tennis match Monday (March 28) afternoon at the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Warhawks, who are transitioning to NCAA Division II, are the defending NAIA National Champions and are currently No. 1 in the NAIA with an 11-3 mark, while the Mountain Lions fell to 9-5. Young Harris returns to the courts Saturday (April 2) when they travel to Aiken, South Carolina, for a 1 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match against No. 50-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken.
The best chance for a point for the Mountain Lions came at No. 1 singles,
Elin Rundcrantz won the opening set before Paula Diaz won the second set 6-4 to tie the match. Diaz claimed the win for the Warhawks with a 10-2 decision in the super tiebreaker.
