YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Thirteen different players scored as the Young Harris College women's lacrosse teams defeated Chowan University 23-3 Saturday (March 26) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
Prior to the match, the Mountain Lions recognized their six seniors -
Breanna Farmer,
Ivey Franklin,
Jordana Freitas,
Jaclyn Kernohan,
Taylor Lincoln and
Carter Moore - prior to the match. These six represent the first four-year class of the women's lacrosse program.
Young Harris jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the game's first 11 minutes and never looked back.
Jaclyn Kernohan and Lincoln each scored four goals while
Kendra Parenteau added three more.
Nicole Kernohan and
Kaylynn Roach found the back of the net while
Erika Cross,
Maddie Peek, Farmer,
Sarah Bialecki, Freitas,
Rachel Lepine, Franklin and
Meghan Tonnesen each accounted for one.
Cross,
Katie McNutt, and Peek each lead YHC with two assists while Bialecki, Farmer,
Jaclyn Kernohan,
Nicole Kernohan and Roach each had one.
The Mountain Lions outshot the Hawks 33-3 and led 19-12 in ground balls. Young Harris dominated the draw controls, winning 23 of the 27 contested. Tonnesen led YHC with six draw controls while Lincoln had three. Parenteau scooped up three ground balls while Moore,
Hannah Sacristan, Lincoln, and
Nicole Kernohan had two each.
Moore picked up the win for the Mountain Lions in goal, allowing just two goals in over 38 minutes of play.
