YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris College used a strong first half as the Mountain Lions recorded an 18-6 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over Emmanuel (Ga.) College on a windy Saturday (April 2) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions, who are 8-4, return to action Monday (April 4) when they entertain No. 5 Rollins College in a 2 p.m. match at West Forsyth High School in Cumming, Georgia. The Lions fell to 5-8.
Young Harris scored the first seven goals – including three from
Taylor Lincoln - of the match to open up a 7-0 lead with 7:16 remaining in the first half and never looked back.
Lincoln led the Mountain Lions with four goals while
Nicole Kernohan and
Maddie Peek each accounted for three goals.
Sarah Bialecki,
Jaclyn Kernohan and
Erika Cross each registered two goals while
Kaylynn Roach and
Kendra Parenteau each found the back of the net once. Bialecki,
Jaclyn Kernohan,
Channing Milford, Parenteau and Roach each recorded an assist.
Young Harris held advantages over Emmanuel in shots (36-17) and ground balls (31-17). The Mountain Lions picked up 10 draw controls, including three by Parenteau and two more from Cross.
Hannah Sacristan led the way for seven ground balls. Lincoln scooped up four while
Julia Darroch, Parenteau and Roach each collected three.
Darroch earned the win in goal for the Mountain Lions as she picked up eight saves.Â
