FLORENCE, S.C. | Brooks Kennedy drove in two runs to lead Francis Marion University past Young Harris College 4-2 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Sunday (March 20) afternoon at Sparrow Stadium.
Francis Marion improved to 17-10 overall and to 5-7 in the league while the Mountain Lions slipped to 9-17 and 4-11. Young Harris returns to Zell B. Miller Field Friday (March 26) when they host the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in a 6 p.m. PBC contest.
Kennedy gave the Patriots a 1-0 lead in the second off YHC starter
Michael Livingston (2-4) when he drew a walk with the bases loaded. Crowe drove in a second run with an RBI single to left field.
The Mountain Lions tied the game at 2 on a two-run single through the right side by
Zach Beggs in the fourth inning.
Nick Sexton led off the inning by being hit by a pitch while
Zach Wall followed with a single to left.
Kennedy reclaimed the lead for Francis Marion at 3-2 in the bottom half of the inning on Kennedy's two-out single to left. The Patriots added an insurance run in the seventh on Zach Callahan's single through the left side.
Matt Kelley (3-2) earned the win for FMU with six strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings while Daniel Barfield earned his first save with 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Triston Smith led the Mountain Lions with two hits.
