YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Lander University swept a Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader from Young Harris College Sunday (Feb. 28) afternoon.

The Bearcats held off the Mountain Lions 10-8 in the opener before taking the nightcap at Zell B. Miller Field 18-3.

Lander improved to 12-5 overall and to 6-3 in the Peach Belt while Young Harris slipped to 4-9 and 0-6. The Mountain Lions will return to action Wednesday (March 2) when they hosts Cedarville University in a 3 p.m. contest to wrap up their seven-game homestand.

Zach Wall led the Mountain Lions in the opener as he collected four hits, clubbing two of them for home runs. Wall, who drove in five runs, led off the fourth with a home run just inside the left field fair pole and added a two-run blast an inning later as Young Harris pulled within two runs at 5-3. His two-run single highlighted a five-run eighth that saw the Mountain Lions get within two runs at 10-8.

Jimmy Pinakidis and
Caleb Moore each drove in runs in the eighth inning with singles while Odom drove in a run with his grounder.

The Mountain Lions outhit the Bearcats 13-11 in the opener. Odom had three while
Luke Miller added two more, including a double.

Colby Lusignan had two home runs for Lander and drove in five runs.

J.D. Waite (3-1) earned the win, while Andrew Reardon picked up his first save.
Cody Beck (0-3) took the loss for YHC.

Lander broke the nightcap with 12 runs – only one earned – in the seventh and eighth innings as Mountain Lions committed four errors. Thomas Berry had a grand slam in the seven-run seventh for the Bearcats.

Odom led the Mountain Lions with two hits, including a two-run homer to left field in the fifth.

Colton Rogers (2-1) earned the win in relief for the Bearcats while
Michael Livingston (2-1) absorbed the loss.
