YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's tennis team won four of the six singles matches – including three that were decided in the third set – as the Mountain Lions rallied for a 5-4 Peach Belt Conference victory over their cross-mountain rival University of North Georgia Saturday (Feb. 27) afternoon at the Bob and Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.
The Mountain Lions improved to 3-0 overall and to 1-0 in the league while the Nighthawks fell to 5-1 and 0-1. Young Harris travels to Tigerville, South Carolina, Wednesday (March 2) for a 2 p.m. match against North Greenville University.
North Georgia took a 2-1 lead after doubles, but Young Harris came back to tie the match at 4 when
Elin Rundcrantz picked up a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.
Oriana Labaqui clinched the match for the Mountain Lions at No. 2 singles with a 0-6, 7-5, 6-1 win.
