YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Shannon O'Neal scored five goals to lead the Wingate University women's lacrosse team to a 11-8 victory over Young Harris College Saturday (Feb. 27) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 while the Mountain Lions fell to 4-1. Young Harris hosts Gannon University in 3 p.m. match Sunday (Feb. 28).

Young Harris tied the match at 8 with 6:41 remaining after
Sarah Bialecki and
Nicole Kernohan found the back of the net. However, O'Neal gave the Bulldogs the lead for good 28 seconds later as she took the draw control in for the score. Jaclyn Chiesa and Paulena Dempsey, who scored three times, added Wingate insurance goals.

Kendra Parenteau and
Rachel Lepine led Young Harris with two goals apiece.
Erika Cross and
Jaclyn Kernohan added one goal each. Bialecki and Parenteau also assisted on another goal.

Taylor Lincoln led the Mountain Lions with four draw controls while
Kaylynn Roach,
Hannah Sacristan, and Cross each scooped up three ground balls.
Julia Darroch recorded five saves in goal for Young Harris.
