YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Lander University pitcher Will Jones made two third innings runs hold up as the Bearcats shutout Young Harris College 2-0 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Saturday (Feb. 27) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.

The Bearcats improved to 10-5 overall and to 4-3 in the Peach Belt while Young Harris fell to 4-7 and 0-4. The two teams wrap up their three-game series with an 11 a.m. doubleheader Sunday (Feb. 28).

Jones (2-2) scattered seven hits and struck out 13 in his complete-game victory.

Lander scored twice in the third inning. Matt White led off the inning off Young Harris starter
Donald Frew (0-3) by reaching on an error. Colby Lusignan singled and Thomas Berry walked to load the bases. John Mangum followed with a two-run single through the left side.

Young Harris outhit the Bearcats 7-5, but couldn't score against Jones.
Luke Miller had two hits while
Nick Sexton,
Zach Odom,
Brett Westmoreland,
Jimmy Pinakidis and
Chris McGinnis had a hit each.
