DUE WEST, S.C. | The Young Harris College women's lacrosse team opened up their 2016 campaign with a 21-3 non-conference win over Erskine College Saturday (Feb. 13) at Huggins Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 1-0 while the Flying Fleet fell to 0-2. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (Feb. 17) when they travel to Waleska, Georgia, for a 3 p.m. match against Reinhardt University.
Young Harris, which led 13-2 at the half, was led by
Maddie Peek's five goals.
Taylor Lincoln and
Nicole Kernohan each found the back of the net four times while
Sarah Bialecki and
Kendra Parenteau had two goals each.
Katie McNutt,
Erika Cross,
Meghan Tonnesen and Jordan Freitas each scored once. Bialecki led the Mountain Lions with four assists while Lincoln, McNutt and
Channing Milford had one apiece.
Peek and Milford each scooped up four ground balls while McNutt, Tonnesen and Parenteau each collected three. Young Harris won 21 of the 26 draw controls and was led by Tonnesen, who had eight draw controls.
Kaylynn Roach picked up six draw controls while Lincoln had three.

Carter Moore (one) combined for four saves for the Mountain Lions.
