YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | C.J. Wilson scored 25 points to help the Purple team rally in the second half and pick up an 81-75 decision over the White team in the annual men's basketball intrasquad scrimmage Tuesday (Oct. 25) evening at the YHC Basketball Arena.
The Purple team trailed 43-35 at the half, but they connected on 52.2 percent (12-of-23) of their shots from the field and hit 21-of-27 free throw attempts (77.8 percent) in the final 20 minutes as they outscored the White team 46-32.
Wilson, who was one of five players in double figures for the Purple team, added eight assists and grabbed four rebounds.
Corey Nelson added 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds while
Marcellus Roberts scored 12 points and had six rebounds.
J.B. Charles and
James Laput each scored 10 points. Laput also pulled down nine rebounds while Charles had six.
Angus Howey nearly had a double double with 10 rebounds and nine points.
Darrius Sizemore, who hit six three-pointers, led the White team with 18 points while
Bjorn Walker scored 17.
Ben Waterhouse added 14 points, five rebounds and four assists while
Marques McKoy nearly had a double double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Damari Edwards contributed six rebounds and seven rebounds.
The Mountain Lions open their 2016-17 season Nov. 11 when they travel to Wilson, North Carolina, for a 7:30 p.m. contest against Barton College.
