DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Young Harris College defeated its cross-mountain rival University of North Georgia to win the Battle of Blood Mountain Dual Match Monday (Sept. 7) afternoon.
The Mountain Lions shot a rounds of 298 and 294 on the par 72, 6,967-yard layout at the Achasta Golf Club to complete the 54-hole event with a score of 888, eight better than the Nighthawks.
Trey Pearson was the top finisher for Young Harris as he posted back-to-back rounds of even par 72 to finish in second place overall at 218.
Clark Melton and
David Wallin finished in a tie for third place at 224. Melton fired rounds of 79 and 74 while Wallin registered scores of 76 and 73.
Eli Crumley tied for sixth place at 226 with rounds of 74 and 75.
Eric Little finished at 228, good for ninth place after carding a 76 and an 80.
James Rowe,
Adam Taylor and
Drew Wagner finished in a tie for 10th place at 229. Rowe shot 76 and 77 while Taylor had rounds of 78 and 75 and Wagner posted consecutive scores of 76.
Zach Buch (76, 81) and
Drew Dotson (76, 79) tied for 15th place at 235 while
Reeves Bell (78, 82) came in 20th with a 237.
The Mountain Lions will return to action next Monday (Sept. 14) when they travel to Calera, Alabama, for the Montevallo/Full Moon BBQ Invitational.
