YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Georgia College scored nine runs in the top of the ninth inning to rally for a 12-7 Peach Belt Conference baseball victory over Young Harris College Thursday (April 23) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Bobcats improved to 26-15 overall and to 12-10 in the league while the Mountain Lions fell to 14-29 and 8-19. Young Harris will wrap up their season Friday (April 24) with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Georgia College. The Mountain Lions will honor their four seniors prior to the doubleheader.
Young Harris scored four runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth inning to take a 7-3 lead. Georgia College started the ninth inning rally with five consecutive two-strike hits as they took the lead at 8-7 on Dylan Cook's three-run homer – his sixth of the season – to left field. The Bobcats batted around in the ninth as they sent 13 to the plate.
The Mountain Lions had 15 hits in the game. Nick Sexton went 4-for-5 with a double and drove in three runs. Brett Westmoreland, Zach Wall, Spencer Thomas, and Troy Kizer each collected two hits. Kizer had a double and drove in two runs while Westmoreland and Wall each added an RBI.
Kyle Ward (2-1) earned the win in relief while Dylan Gibeau (1-4) absorbed the loss.
