GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Young Harris College men's golf team is in tie for sixth place after the first round of the 2015 Peach Belt Conference Championship Friday (April 17) afternoon.
The Mountain Lions shot 294 on the par 72, 6,851-yard layout at the Greenwood Country Club and are tied with the University of North Georgia and No. 45 Clayton State University.
The difference between first and last place amongst the 12 teams is just 16 strokes. No. 6 Flagler College leads the tournament after the first day with a score of 280, two strokes better than No. 2 University of South Carolina Aiken. No. 14 Georgia Southwestern State University is in third place at 292 while No. 13 Columbus State University and No. 29 Georgia College are tied for fourth at 293.
Trey Pearson shot a career-best round of two-under par 70 as he recorded two birdies and 16 pars and is tied for fifth place.
The second round of the 54-hole tournament will tee off at 11:08 a.m. Saturday (April 18). Eli Crumley and Linus Manntz are tied for 25th place after carding scores of 74 while All-PBC performer David Wallin and Clark Melton are tied for 44th after posting rounds of 76.
Flagler's Jordan Ebanks leads all golfers after shooting a five-under par round of 67.
The second round of the 54-hole tournament tees off at 9:20 a.m. Saturday (April 18) morning.
