Wallin leads YHC to sixth-place finish at UNCP tournament

WALLACE, N.C. – The Young Harris College men's golf team finished in a tie for sixth place at the UNCP/Campbell Sunoco Classic Tuesday (March 31) afternoon.

The Mountain Lions shot a round of 290 – the second-lowest score of the day - on the par 72, 6,795-yard layout on the River Course at the River Landing Country Club to finish the 54-hole event at 897. Erskine College won the tournament with a score of 890, two strokes clear of Queens (N.C.) University.

David Wallin finished in a tie for third place at 221 after finishing the tournament with a one-under par 71. Trey Pearson recorded a top-20 effort as his even par 72 put him in a tie for 19th at 225. Linus Manntz carded a 76 and finished in a tie for 36th at 230 while Clark Melton registered an 85 and came in a tie for 59th place. Eli Crumley, who had to withdraw from the second round with an injury, came back to shoot a 71 in the final round. Parker Hulme, who played as an individual, shot an 83 and finished in a tie for 79th at 257.

Young Harris is off for the next three weeks as they prepare to compete at the Peach Belt Conference Championship in Greenwood, South Carolina, April 17-19.
