WALLACE, N.C. – The Young Harris College men's golf team is in seventh place after the first day of the UNCP/Campbell Sunoco Classic Monday (March 30).
The Mountain Lions shot rounds of 296 in the morning and 311 in the afternoon on the par 72, 6,795-yard layout on the River Course at the River Landing Country Club to stand at 607 after 36 holes. Young Harris was in a three-way tie for first place after the morning round. Queens (N.C.) University leads the tournament at 590.
David Wallin is the top YHC golfer after rounds of 74 and 76 have him in a tie for 17th place at 150. Trey Pearson is tied for 32nd place at 153 after recording rounds of 74 and 79, while Linus Manntz carded scores of 75 and 79 and is tied for 37th at 154. Clark Melton fired rounds of 78 and 77 and is tied for 42nd place while Eli Crumley had a 73 in the first round before having to withdraw due to an injury. Parker Hulme, who is playing as an individual, had rounds of 81 and 93 and is tied for 79th place at 174.
The 54-hole event concludes Tuesday (March 31) morning.
