DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Young Harris College rallied to win four singles matches en route to a 5-4 Peach Belt Conference women's tennis victory over the University of North Georgia in a battle of cross-mountain rivals Tuesday (March 24) afternoon at the UNG Tennis Complex.
The Mountain Lions, who have won five of their last six matches, improved to 7-6 overall and to 2-5 in the conference while the Nighthawks fell to 2-8 and 0-6. Young Harris steps out of conference play Wednesday (March 25) with a 2 p.m. contest against Shorter University in Rome, Georgia.
North Georgia took a 2-1 lead after doubles, but Eva Castiglioni, Elin Rundcrantz and Laura Sanchez won their singles matches in straight sets to tie the match at 4. Maria Puerta clinched the match for the Mountain Lions as she defeated Simone Krog 7-6 (4), 6-1 at No. 5 singles.
