Audet leads Young Harris past Bobcats 21-15

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Young Harris College scored six unanswered goals – three by Nicole Kernohan - midway through the second half to pull away from Lees-McRae College 21-15 in a women's lacrosse match Saturday (March 21) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

The Mountain Lions improved to 8-2 and they will travel to Newberry, South Carolina, Wednesday (March 25) for a 7 p.m. contest at Newberry College. Lees-McRae falls to 4-3.

The teams were tied at 9 at halftime. Lees-McRae got back-to-back goals by Jenah Tracy to take an 11-10 lead at the 27:43 mark. Nicole Kernohan tied the match at 11 less than two minutes later on a free-position shot.  Alexia Audet and Nicole Kernohan then added two goals each and Jaclyn Kernohan added another as the Mountain Lions took a 16-11 lead with 20:50 to play.

The Bobcats got within three at 17-14, but Audet thwarted any comeback as she scored back-to-back goals to give the Mountain Lions a 19-14 lead with 8:58 remaining.

Audet paced the Mountain Lions with six goals while Nicole Kernohan finished with four. Katie McNutt had three, while Amanda Kernohan, Jaclyn Kernohan, and Taylor Lincoln each found the back of the net twice. Jordana Freitas and Rachel Lepine accounted for a goal apiece. Nicole Kernohan and McNutt dished out two assists each while Audet, Ivey Franklin, Amanda Kernohan and Meghan Tonnesen had one.

Tonnesen led the Mountain Lions with seven draw controls while Anna Lummus and Lepine registered four each. Anna Kate Dulaney and Franklin contributed three draw controls. Audet and Lummus each scooped up four ground balls while Lincoln, Jaclyn Kernohan, and Franklin collected three each.

Sarah Nudelman had seven saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
