Mountain Lions soar past Skyhawks 13-4

CUMMING, Ga. – Nicole Kernohan and Jaclyn Kernohan teamed up for eight goals as Young Harris College recorded a 13-4 women's lacrosse victory over Point University Wednesday (March 18) evening at Wolverine Stadium on the campus of West Forsyth High School.

The Mountain Lions improved to 7-2 and will return to the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field Saturday (March 21) for a 2 p.m. match against Lees-McRae College.

Young Harris opened up a 7-0 lead with 7:27 to play in the first half after Katie McNutt found the back of the net.  The Mountain Lions, who led 7-2 at the half, scored the first three goals of the second half – two from Nicole Kernohan and another by Jaclyn Kernohan – to take a 10-2 lead with 20:41 left.

Nicole Kernohan led the Mountain Lions with five goals while Jaclyn Kernohan had three. Anna Kate Dulaney and Alexia Audet found the net twice. Meghan Tonnesen led Young Harris with three assists while Amanda Kernohan had two and Dulaney tallied one.

Nicole Kernohan led the Mountain Lions, who held a 44-28 advantage over the Skyhawks, with seven ground balls. McNutt, Rachel Lepine, Dulaney and Jaclyn Kernohan scooped up five apiece, while Ivey Franklin and Jordana Freitas had three each.

Young Harris won 15 of the 19 draws contested. Lepine led the Mountain Lions with five while Jaclyn Kernohan had three and Tonnesen had two.

Goalie Sarah Nudelman recorded six saves for YHC.
