YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Four different players scored three goals apiece as Young Harris College recorded a 20-9 women's lacrosse victory over Reinhardt University Friday (Feb. 27) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions remained unbeaten at 3-0 while the Eagles fell to 2-1. Young Harris returns to action tomorrow (Feb. 28) with a 3 p.m. home match against the University of Virginia's College at Wise.
Young Harris, which registered at least 20 goals in two of its three matches this season, scored the game's first five goals and nine of the first 10 as the Mountain Lions took a commanding 12-3 lead at the half. The Mountain Lions opened the second half by scoring six unanswered goals in the first 12 minutes to open up an 18-3 advantage.
Taylor Lincoln, Nicole Kernohan, Rachel Lepine and Katie McNutt each put three goals in the net for the Mountain Lions while Alexis Audet and Jaclyn Kernohan each scored twice. Kendra Parenteau, Anna Kate Dulaney, Meghan Tonnesen and Amanda Kernohan accounted for the other scores. Lincoln added four assists while Audet, Parenteau and Jaclyn Kernohan contributed two apiece.
Tonnesen and Jaclyn Kernohan each had four draw controls for the Mountain Lions while Lepine and Parenteau had two each as Young Harris had 18 draw controls overall. Ivey Franklin and Nicole Kernohan scooped up three ground balls apiece while Lepine, Anna Lummus, Kaylynn Roach and Dulaney collected two each.
Sarah Nudelman (eight) and Carter Moore (three) combined for 11 saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
