AMERICUS, Ga. – Georgia Southwestern State University rallied in the second half to record a 60-50 Peach Belt Conference women's basketball victory over Young Harris College Wednesday (Feb. 18) evening at the Storm Dome.

The Hurricanes improved to 13-11 overall and 7-10 in the Peach Belt while the Mountain Lions fell to 9-15 and 6-11. Young Harris will return to the YHC Basketball Arena Saturday (Feb. 21) at 1:30 p.m. when they host Clayton State University. The Mountain Lions will honor their eight seniors after the game.

Young Harris led the majority of the first half as they took a 26-22 lead at the half. The Mountain Lions expanded their lead to seven points (35-28) as they got back-to-back layups from Peyton Robertson with 16:25 remaining.

Young Harris would keep its lead at seven points over the next three minutes. After Chan Fann hit two free throws to give the Mountain Lions a 41-34 lead with 13:34 to play, the Hurricanes scored 10 of the game's next 12 points to take their first lead since the early moments of the first half on Shatoria Hudson's layup with 7:02 to play.

Georgia Southwestern took a 48-47 lead on a Shanedra Lockett layup 90 seconds later. The Mountain Lions got two Robertson free throws on their next possession, but that would be as close as Young Harris would get the remainder of the game as the Hurricanes got two layups on their next two trips down the court to open a 52-47 advantage.
