Mountain Lions claw past Bulldogs 10-8

ATHENS, Tenn. – Young Harris College got three goals from Nicole Kernohan as the women's lacrosse team recorded a 10-8 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan College Saturday (Feb. 14) afternoon.

The Mountain Lions improved to 2-0 and will return to action Thursday (Feb. 19) when they travel to Cumming, Georgia, for a 6 p.m. contest against Point University. The match will be played at West Forsyth High School.

"Our defense stepped up to the challenge and gave us crucial possession time to allow us to increase the score," said Young Harris head coach Katie Ziek. "It was a hard fought game and the girls fought the whole 60 minutes."

Kaylynn Roach added two goals for the Mountain Lions while Rachel Lepine, Alexia Audet, Katie McNutt, Kendra Parenteau and Taylor Lincoln each found the back of the net for Young Harris.

Young Harris controlled the match but the Bulldogs brought the score within a goal several times through the match, but the Mountain Lions always managed to always find an answer to stay ahead.

Elli Flaig played phenomenal defense for Young Harris causing turnovers to initiate scoring plays. Goalie Sarah Nudleman recorded 10 saves for the Mountain Lions on 18 shots.
