AZUSA, Calif. | Joey Schreiber came off the bench to score 20 points to lead Azusa Pacific University to an 87-75 men's basketball victory over Young Harris College Friday (Nov. 27) evening at the Felix Event Center.

The Cougars improved to 5-1 while the Mountain Lions fell to 1-5 after their third consecutive loss. Young Harris wraps up its stay in the golden state with a 2 p.m. Pacific Time contest against California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in Pomona, California.

Azusa Pacific used a 12-4 run to open up a 20-13 lead with 10:31 remaining in the first half on a three-pointer by Bruce English. The Mountain Lions battled back and retook the lead at 32-31 with 2:06 left on a
Bjorn Walker jumper to culminate six unanswered points by Young Harris. The Cougars took a 34-32 lead at the half as Petar Kutlesic dunk with 22 seconds left.

The Cougars pushed their lead out to seven (41-34) on a Kutlesic three-pointer with 17:22 to play. Young Harris rallied and got within two points (47-45) on a
Ben Waterhouse layup with 14:21 to go. Azusa Pacific broke the game open with eight unanswered points to take a 57-47 lead on an old-fashioned three-point play from Schreiber with 11:50 remaining.

Young Harris got as close as four points (61-57) on a
C.J. Wilson steal and layup with 8:11 to play, but again the Cougars pushed their lead back to double figures – 12 points (76-64) – on a Schreiber three-pointer with 4:55 to go. Young Harris would get as close as six points (76-70) on a Wilson jumper with just over two minutes left.

Austin Dyer added 17 points for the Cougars, which shot 53.2 percent (33-of-62) from the field. Kutlesic added 13 points while Will Ward posted 12 more.

Waterhouse led the Mountain Lions with a career-high 22 points while Wilson and
J.B. Charles added 12 apiece. Walker tossed in 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds.Â
