SAN DIEGO | Point Loma Nazarene University used a 16-3 run wrapped around halftime en route to an 80-75 men's basketball victory over Young Harris College Tuesday (Nov. 24) evening at Golden Gymnasium.

The Sea Lions improved to 3-2 while the Mountain Lions fell to 1-4. Young Harris continues its California swing Friday (Nov. 27) with a 7:30 p.m. Pacific time contest against Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California.

Young Harris used a 9-0 run to open its largest lead of the game 11-5 on a
Devin Coleman layup after a
Ben Waterhouse steal with 14:53 to play in the first half. The lead see-sawed back and forth between the two teams seven times until the final minutes of the half.

Point Loma took the lead for good at 31-30 on Tanner Lancona free throw with 3:07 remaining in the half. That free throw was part of the deciding 16-3 run over a 5:13 stretch that saw the Sea Lions open a 44-33 lead on Judd Welfringer putback with 17:54 to play.

Young Harris mounted a rally of its own as they scored 11 of the next 15 points to trim the deficit to four points (48-44) on two
C.J. Wilson free throws with 14:27 left. The Mountain Lions got within two points at 53-51 on a Waterhouse three-pointer two minutes later; however, the Sea Lions pushed their advantage out to seven points (59-52) with 10:45 left on a Lancona layup.

The Mountain Lions battled back and got within two points (64-62), this time on a Waterhouse layup with 7:10 to play, but Point Loma scored nine of the next 11 points to open a 73-64 lead on a Chad Watkins three-pointer with 5:14 remaining. The closest the Mountain Lions would get the rest of the way was four points (73-69).

Lancona led the Sea Lions, who shot 57.1 percent (32-of-56), with 19 points while Sam Okhotin (15), Watkins (14), and Mike Planeta (10) finished in double figures.

Wilson led Young Harris with 19 points and six assists followed by
Devin Coleman with 16 points.
Marcellus Roberts contributed 13 points and Waterhouse finished with 11.
Marques McKoy grabbed a game- and career-high 15 rebounds (10 offensive) and added eight points.
