YHC in third place at Jay Jennison Memorial; Wallin, Manntz among leaders

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Young Harris College men's golf team is tied for third place Monday (Sept. 22) after the first day of the Jay Jennison Memorial hosted by Flagler College.

The Mountain Lions shot rounds of 292 and 301 on the par 72, 7,073-yard layout at The Palencia Club to stand at 593 after 36 holes along with Wingate University. Host Flagler leads after the first day with a score of 575 while Limestone College is in second place at 591.

David Wallin registered back-to-back rounds of one-under par 71 and is in third place after 36 holes at 142, tying the College's low 36-hole score. Wallin is one stroke behind tournament co-leaders Benedict Gebhardt of Wingate and Flagler's Zach Horne at 141. Linus Manntz had the low morning round – a two-under par 70 – in the entire field and added a 74 in the afternoon and is tied for fourth place at 144.

Clark Melton had rounds of 74 and 78 and is tied for 29th place at 152 while Eli Crumley is tied for 45th at 155 after scores of 77 and 78. Trey Pearson is in 68th place at 163 after rounds of 80 and 83.

The 54-hole tournament concludes Tuesday (Sept. 23) with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
