Mountain Lions in fifth place after opening round at Montevallo tournament

CALERA, Ala. – The Young Harris College men's golf team stands in fifth place after the opening round of the University of Montevallo/Full Moon BBQ Invitational Monday (Sept. 15) afternoon.

The Mountain Lions shot 292 on the par 71 layout at the Timberline Golf Club. The 292 ties the all-time low round in the program's history, also set last year at this tournament.

Three Young Harris golfers find themselves inside the top 20 after the first 18 holes. Clark Melton and David Wallin are tied for 14th place after each shot rounds of 72 while Trey Pearson was in a tie for 19th after an opening 73. Linus Manntz and Eli Crumley are tied for 26th place at 75.

The University of West Georgia leads the event at 278 while West Georgia's Kevin Clarke is the top golfer after firing a five-under par 66.

The 36-hole tournament concludes Tuesday (Sept. 16) morning.
