ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Young Harris College men's golf team competed in the first round of the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational Monday (Feb. 10) afternoon.

The Mountain Lions were tied for ninth place after shooting an opening round of 315 on the par 72 Retreat Course at the Sea Island Golf Club. Tournament host College of Coastal Georgia leads the event at 300, one stroke clear of the University of Mobile.

Due to the threat of winter weather back home, Young Harris was one of three teams – University of North Georgia and Truett-McConnell College were the others – to withdraw from the tournament after the first round.

Linus Manntz had the low round of the day for the Mountain Lions with a 73 while Eli Crumley had a 77. Clark Melton followed with an 81 while Adam Taylor and Drew Wagner carded scores of 82.

The Mountain Lions return to action March 25 when they will compete at the Bearcat Golf Classic hosted by Lander University in Greenwood, S.C.
