CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Young Harris College men's golf team finished in fourth place at the UWG Matt Dyas Memorial hosted by the University of West Georgia Tuesday (Oct. 28).
The Mountain Lions set a new 54-hole record for the program as they finished the 14-team tournament at 869, 22 strokes lower than the previous best also set at last year's event. Young Harris shot 296 on the par 72 Oak Mountain Golf Club in the final round. Host West Georgia leads the event at 853.
Linus Manntz was named to the all-tournament team after he finished in a tie for second place at 211, which tied the program's low 54-hole score set by teammate David Wallin earlier this fall. Manntz carded a 73 in the final round. Wallin shot 76 in the final round to finish in a tie for seventh place at 214. Eli Crumley and Clark Melton finished in a tie for 30th at 222. Crumley fired a 72 while Melton recorded a 75. Adam Taylor shot a 76 to finish in a tie for 62nd place at 233.
The Mountain Lions return to action Feb. 16 when they open their spring season at the LMU Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate in Orange Park, Florida.
