CALERA, Ala. – The Young Harris College men's golf team is in seventh place after the opening round Monday (Sept. 16) of the Full Moon Invitational hosted by the University of Montevallo.
The Mountain Lions shot 305 in the first round on the par 71, 6,745-yard layout at Timberline Golf Club. Florida Institute of Technology leads the tournament at four-under par 280, 16 strokes better than Catawba College.
Clark Melton fired an even-par round of 71 for the Mountain Lions and is tied for fourth place. Drew Wagner carded a 76 and is tied for 24th place while Adam Taylor and Linus Manntz are tied for 33rd after each shot 79. Reeves Bell rounded out YHC contingent with an 81 and is tied for 39thp> place. Florida Tech teammates Ray Badenhorst and Justin Kalanquin lead the field after shooting 68s.
The 36-hole tournament concludes Tuesday (Sept. 17) morning.
