Mountain Lions place 17th at Smoky Mountain tournament

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The Young Harris College men's golf team finished in 17th place Tuesday (Sept. 10) at the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate hosted by Carson-Newman University.

The Mountain Lions shot 318 on the par 72, 7,088-yard River Course layout at The Sevierville Golf Club and finished with a 36-hole score of 625. Clayton State University won the tournament with a score of 578, seven strokes ahead of Queens (N.C.) University.

Drew Wagner shot the low round of the day for the second straight day for the Mountain Lions with a 76 and finished in a tie for 29th place with a 150 total. Clark Melton carded an 80 and finished in a tie for 54th place at 155 while Reeves Bell had an 82 and came in a tie for 74th at 160. Adam Taylor and James Rowe each tied for 79th place at 162. Taylor tallied an 80 in the final round while Rowe had an 82.

Young Harris returns to action Monday (Sept. 16) when they travel to Calera, Ala., for the Full Moon Invitational.
