YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Zach Bricknell's game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh gave Young Harris College a 5-4 victory in the nightcap to earn a split of its baseball doubleheader against Brevard College Saturday (Feb. 9) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field. Brevard won the opener 9-2.
The Tornados are now 2-1 while the Mountain Lions are 1-2. The two teams wrap up their four-game series with a 2 p.m. contest Sunday (Feb.10).
Brevard rallied to tie the second game at 4 with two unearned runs in the top of the seventh. Trey Rogers, who hit a solo home run in the third, started the winning rally off reliever Ryan Mercer with a single and Jack Morrow sacrificed him to second base. After an intentional walk to Adam Moore, Bricknell laced a 2-2 pitch for a single to score Rogers from second base.
Cody Beck pitched the final two innings to earn the win.
Alex McGee went 2-for-4 in the opener with 4 RBI for Brevard.
