CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Young Harris College men's golf team is in eighth place after the first day of the UWG Matt Dyas Invitational hosted by the University of West Georgia Monday (Oct. 28) afternoon.
The Mountain Lions shot 306 in the morning and then shaved 13 strokes off in the afternoon as they carded a 293 on the par 72, 7,026-yard layout at the Oak Mountain Championship Golf Club to stand at 599 through 36 holes. Tournament host West Georgia leads the event at 561, 19 strokes clear of the University of North Alabama.
Clark Melton is tied for 19th place at 147 after putting together rounds of 75 and 72. Linus Manntz is tied for 26th at 150 after shooting scores of 76 and 74 while Drew Wagner had a 75 and a 78 and is tied for 36th at 153. A stroke back at 154, Eli Crumley is tied for 41st place after rounds of 80 and 74. Adam Taylor is in a tie for 45th place after shooting scores of 82 and 73 for a total of 155.
The 54-hole tournament concludes Tuesday (Oct. 29).
