YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Columbus State University pitcher Drew Dades hurled a one-hit complete-game victory with 11 strikeouts as the Cougars defeated Young Harris College 12-0 in a college baseball game Tuesday (April 10) evening at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Cougars improved to 25-15 while the Mountain Lions saw their six-game winning streak snapped as they fell to 29-10. Young Harris opens up a three-game home series against Tennessee Temple University Friday (April 13) with a 6 p.m. contest.
Dades improved to 4-1 as he allowed just a fifth-inning double to Adam Moore. Dades only allowed runners in the fifth and eighth innings as he walked four batters; however, Dades stranded the bases loaded to end both threats.
Brett Teschner led the Cougars with three hits, including two homers, as he drove in six runs. Teschner had a two-run double to highlight a four-run third inning before connecting on a three-run homer to left in the sixth. He added a solo shot – his sixth of the season – in the eighth. Teschner was one of four Cougars - J.D. Pullen, Navarro Hall and Cameron Griffin - with three hits as Columbus State banged out 17 hits against six Young Harris pitchers.
Josh Rudnik (4-3) took the loss for the Mountain Lions.
