ROME, Ga. – The Young Harris College men's golf team is in 13th place after the first round of the Rome News-Journal Invitational Monday (March 5) afternoon.
The Mountain Lions shot 317 on the opening day of the tournament being played on the par 72, 6,732-yard layout at the Stonebridge Golf Club. Central Alabama Community College leads the 20-team tournament with a score of 289, three strokes better than the University of the Cumberlands, which is ranked No. 7 in the NAIA.
Chase Hankla is tied for 11th place for the Mountain Lions after registering a 73. Cameron Medina fired a 78 and tied for 45th while Matthew Peeler and Evan Jordan each had an 83 and are tied for 80th place. Caleb Kelly is tied for 106th after carding an 89.
LaGrange College's Hudson Keener leads other 110 players in the tournament field after shooting a 66 in the opening round.
The 36-hole tournament conclude Tuesday (March 6).
