FLORENCE, S.C. – Jack Morrow's game-winning pinch hit two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to led Young Harris College past King College 3-1 in a college baseball game Saturday (Feb. 11) afternoon on the second day of the Auddie Brown Classic at Cormell Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 3-3 while the Tornados fell to 1-3. Young Harris plays host and No. 6-ranked Francis Marion University later in the day at 3 p.m.
Trey Rogers led off the bottom of the 10th with a one-out single down the right field line off reliever Dustin Pannell (0-1). Morrow then hit his first homer of the season on a 0-1 pitch over the left field fence to give the Mountain Lions the win.
Brice Merritt (1-0) earned the win as he struck out five in 3 1/3 innings of hitless relief for the Mountain Lions. YHC starter Adam Moore struck out six and scattered six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
King took a 1-0 lead in the first on Carl Robert's RBI single that scored Cody Snyder, who had reached on a triple. The Mountain Lions tied the score at 1 two innings later on Spencer Thomas' run-scoring single up the middle.
"We played another good baseball game with (Adam) Moore and (Brice) Merritt shutting King down and (Jack) Morrow coming off the bench for a pinch hit walk-off homer," said Young Harris head coach Rick Robinson.
