Young Harris maintains fourth-place finish at Piedmont

CLARKESVILLE, Ga. – The Young Harris College men’s golf team finished in fourth place at the Piedmont Fall Invitational Tuesday (Sept. 13) afternoon.

The Mountain Lions shot a final round 312 in the tournament on the par 72, 6,713-yard layout at The Orchard Golf and Country Club to finish the tournament at 627. First-round leader College of Coastal Georgia went on to capture the nine-team tournament with a score of 594 after a round of 294.

Chase Hankla tied a career-low round of one-over par 73 on the par 72, 6,713-yard layout to lead the men with a score of 151, good for a tie for sixth place. Cameron Medina established a new career-low 36-hole score of 156 to finish in a tie for 14th place after a score of 80. Matthew Peeler finished in a tie for 22nd place at 160 after tallying a 79. Jesse Brock had an 81 and finished a tie for 26th place at 161 while Caleb Kelley finished in 32nd place at 163 after an 80.

Coastal Georgia teammates Shiloh Snow and Hunter Cornelius were co-medalists as the finished the tournament at 145.

"I am very proud of the way the team competed the past few days,” said head coach Brett Beazley. “This was a big step forward for the program, especially being the first tournament of the year."

The Mountain Lions return to action Sept. 28 when they travel to Clayton, Ga., for the Georgia Mountains Trophy tournament.
