YOUNG HARRIS – The Young Harris College baseball team saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday as the Mountain Lions fell, 16-3, to Bloomsburg at Zell B. Miller Field.

Bloomsburg (6-5) got a run in the top of the second to grab a 1-0 and added two more in the fourth on a two-run homer by Vince Smarrelli.

The Huskies extended the advantage to 6-0 with three runs in the fifth and put the game out of reach with 10 runs in the sixth inning.

Jack Morrow smacked his team-leading fifth home run in the bottom of the sixth and the Mountain Lions (15-10) plated two runs on three hits in the seventh to trim the deficit to 16-3.

Adam Moore singled to right center to begin the frame, but was out at second when Bowen Klosinksi reached on a fielder’s choice. Mike Medori walked and with two down, Tommy Ferguson singled to right center to score Klosinksi. Medori came in to score when David Atwood reached on an infield hit.

Brice Merritt (1-2) started for the Mountain Lions, going 4.1 innings. He surrendered five runs (four earned) on six hits with four strikeouts and three walks. Tyler Isbell, Billy Demersky, Nick Boutwell, Blake Fortune, Clint Ogle and Evan Carr pitched in relief.

Vinny Voorhees (2-1) earned the win in working six innings for the Huskies. He gave up a run, while scattering seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Matthew Dean, Tim Kurucz and Dean Kenniff worked in relief.
