Cammie Nix begins her second season as the Director of Tennis, sixth season as the head coach of the Young Harris College women's tennis program, and second season as the head coach of the Young Harris College men's tennis program.
Nix led the men's tennis program to a 12-7 record and earned a berth in the conference tournament in 2018, matching the program's best-ever finish in the league. The Mountain Lions finished the season ranked No. 24 by the ITA.
Nix led the women's tennis program to a 12-6 record and to the fourth seed in the conference tournament in 2018. The No. 4 seed was the highest ever for Young Harris in the Peach Belt tournament. The fourth-place standing in the league also tied the best-ever finish in the conference. The Mountain Lions were ranked as high as No. 31 nationally during the season and ended ranked at No. 41 by the ITA.
Nix led the Mountain Lions to a 15-9 record in 2017 and a sixth-place finish in the Peach Belt Conference and earned a berth to the conference tournament for the second time in the program's history. The 15 wins is the second most in the program's NCAA era. Young Harris finished the season ranked No. 43 in Division II by the ITA. The Mountain Lions were ranked as high as No. 6 - best ever in the program's history - in the NCAA Division II regional rankings.Â
Nix led Young Harris to a 12-8 ledger in 2016 as the Mountain Lions finished in a tie for seventh place in the Peach Belt. Â The Mountain Lions were ranked in the NCAA Division II regional rankings for the first time in program history as Young Harris was listed as high as No. 7 during the season.
Nix led the Mountain Lions to their first-ever appearance in the Peach Belt Tournament during the 2015 season as Young Harris went 13-9.
Nix is currently in her third year as the Southeast region chair for the NCAA Division II men's and women's tennis national committee.
Nix came to the Enchanted Valley after spending two seasons in Spartanburg, South Carolina, as the assistant men’s and women’s tennis at USC Upstate where she assisted in all facets of the program. In 2013, the Spartans went 14-8 – a seven-win improvement over 2012 – in women’s tennis and advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.Â
Nix served as the assistant women's tennis coach at UAB for two years prior to USC Upstate. Â During her time in Birmingham, Nix was responsible for organizing both team and individual practices, assisting with recruiting efforts and monitoring academic progress of student-athletes. Â She also oversaw fundraising efforts for the Blazer tennis program.
Before entering the coaching ranks, Nix was a four-year letterwinner (2002-06) as a member of the women's tennis team at Birmingham-Southern College. Â She earned Team MVP honors after the 2005 and 2006 campaigns and was voted Most Improved Player after her freshman season. Â She earned Big South Conference Presidential Honor Roll accolades all four years and was an all-conference performer as a senior. Â Nix, a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, double majored in biology and psychology, graduating in May 2006.
