Andrew Cobb begins his fifth season as the Director of Tennis for Young Harris College.
Cobb has had 34 tennis players (23 men, 11 women) named Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes, while both programs were named All-Academic teams by the ITA the past four seasons. Both teams earned the region's ITA Community Service Award Honorable Mention in 2020-21, while the women's team was named the region's winner of the award in 2021-22.
The Mountain Lions have won the Southeast regional winner of the prestigious Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership & Scholarship Award the past three years. Women's tennis player Jing Dong won the 2020-21 award, while Meghna Mallath captured the 2022-23 award. Romeo Luque was named the 2021-22 men's winner.
Cobb had an immediate impact on the Mountain Lion men's and women's tennis programs in his first season in 2019-20. The men's team went 6-4 in the shortened season, which was a five-match improvement over the previous year. The women's team posted a 6-6 record, which was a five-match improvement over the previous season.
In the classroom, Cobb had seven tennis players named ITA Scholar-Athletes, while both programs were named All-Academic teams by the ITA. Both teams earned the region's ITA Community Service Award Honorable Mention for their work with the Georgia Mountain Tennis Championships, while women's tennis player Ana Rodriguez was named the Southeast regional winner of the prestigious Arthur Ashe Jr. Leadership & Scholarship Award.
Cobb came to Young Harris after serving as the head women’s tennis coach at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, in 2018-19. He helped the Mustangs to a 13-12 record, an improvement of seven wins over the previous season. He also led SMSU to an appearance in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament for the first time since 2010. It was SMSU's first winning season since 1992, while the 13 victories were the highest for the program since 1992.

Cobb came to SMSU following three seasons as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at NAIA Montreat College in Montreat, North Carolina.

During just the second season of his tenure at Montreat, Cobb helped lead both the men’s and women’s team to their best record in more than a decade. He coached a pair of women’s players named to the conference All-Freshman team and had numerous student-athletes named to the All-Academic squad during his three seasons.

Prior to Montreat, Cobb spent two seasons as assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach at Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia. During his time at Reinhardt, he helped coach the men’s team to a program high No. 15 national ranking, back-to-back winning seasons, and its first-ever conference tournament championship. The team also qualified for the NAIA national tournament and advanced to the Round of 16.

Cobb helped the Reinhardt women’s team to its first-ever back-to-back winning seasons and its first-ever regular season championship in 2015. The women’s team also earned a No. 22 national ranking and advanced to the conference tournament finals in both 2014 and 2015.

As a collegiate player, Cobb played four seasons at Reinhardt and earned All-Appalachian Athletic Conference honors and Academic All-AAC accolades during his career. A three-time AAC Player of the Week honoree, Cobb also earned a spot on the NAIA Daktronics All-Scholar Team.

Cobb is a 2013 graduate of Reinhardt with a degree in business administration. He also earned his master’s degree in business administration from Reinhardt in 2015.

Cobb is also certified as a USPTA Elite Professional and has extensive experience as an academy coach.
