Jay Goldsmith begins his first season as head coach of the Young Harris College men's lacrosse program.

Goldsmith comes to the Enchanted Valley after spending last season as an assistant coach at his alma mater Lenoir-Rhyne University.

With the Bears, Goldsmith served as the offensive coordinator as well as the recruiting coordinator. Lenoir-Rhyne, which advanced to the South Atlantic Conference Tournament semifinals in 2019, won eight matches against a schedule that featured seven nationally ranked teams. Goldsmith coached five all-conference performers and one honorable mention All-American last year.

A former two-year starter for the Bears, Goldsmith served as an assistant coach at Catawba College and Methodist University prior to Lenoir-Rhyne.

A 2015 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne, Goldsmith appeared in 30 games and racked up 88 points on 68 goals and 20 assists. He added 52 ground balls, including 37 his senior season. Goldsmith was a second team all-conference selection in 2014 and an honorable mention all-conference pick in 2015. He finished his career with the school's single-game goal record with seven and was drafted by the Charlotte Hounds of the Major League Lacrosse.

Prior to playing for the Bears, Goldsmith played two years for NCAA Division III power Lynchburg College. As a Hornet, Goldsmith saw action in 29 games and scored 15 goals while adding 10 assists.

Goldsmith began his collegiate coaching career with Methodist in 2017 and helped guide the program to a 15-3 record and a SEILC Conference Tournament Championship. The Monarchs were a perfect 8-0 at home that season and averaged 14.2 goals per game.

Goldsmith graduated with a degree in health and physical education in 2015.
