A.J. Clark begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Young Harris College men's basketball program.
Clark comes to the Enchanted Valley after spending the last two years in Wilmington, North Carolina, working for Groundwork Player Development alongside former Springfield Armor (formerly known as the D-League) guard Tre Whitted. While at Groundwork, Clark held the role as director of basketball operations and was also the founder of their travel ball organization. Player development, managing training schedules, facility usage, along with camp and clinic itineraries were among his many duties. Clark is no stranger to developing players as he has worked with professionals who are currently playing in Australia, Portugal, Serbia, Spain, Estonia, and Africa. One of his top players also competed in the $2,000,000 Basketball Tournament this past summer.
Before his time with Groundwork Player Development, Clark played collegiately at NCAA Division II Pfeiffer University under Currier. As a four-year captain, Clark helped lead the Falcons to a Conference Carolinas regular season championship, a NCAA Tournament appearance, and a NABC national ranking. As a senior, he was a pivotal part in helping guide the Falcons to become the No. 1 offense in the entire country. The 2016-2017 Falcons led the nation in four statistical categories along with breaking 11 school records. During his career with the Falcons he was named Conference Carolinas Player of the Year and was a first-team all-region and third-team all-American honoree. Clark, who was a three--time All-Conference Carolinas selection, was named the 2017 Pfeiffer Co-Male Athlete of the Year. He is one of three players in school history with at least 1,800 points, 400 assists, and 200 three-pointers.
Clark graduated from Pfeiffer with a bachelor's degree in sport management.
