Young Harris College Athletics

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga| The Mountain Lions began conference play today (Sept. 5th) with the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University. In a tight matchup, Young Harris was able to hold off SWU and escape with a 3-2 victory. 

SWU would get the scoring started and take an early 1-0 lead in the 35th minute. YHC would answer right back just a minute later with Filip Zander finding the back of the net to even the score at 1-1 heading into halftime. The Mountain Lions would add on in the 60th minute with Amin El Ghazi finding the upper corner of the net to take a 2-1 lead. Ondrej Kopecky delivered the game sealing goal in the 77th minute, giving YHC a 3-1 lead. SWU would add a goal of their own in the 82nd minute, but the Mountain Lions were able to hold on for a 3-2 victory. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

• YHC recorded 23 shots with six on goal compared to 16 shots with four on goal for SWU. 

• Young Harris attempted six corner kicks in the match. 

• The Mountain Lions committed 16 fouls compared to 11 for the Warriors. 

• Tommaso Morsoletto played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded two saves.
