YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's soccer team dominated King University with a 7-0 victory in a Conference Carolinas men's soccer match Saturday (Sept. 12) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 3-0-2 overall and 3-0 in Conference Carolinas play, while the Tornado fell to 0-5 and 0-2. YHC returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 16) evening when it travels to Rome, Georgia to face Shorter University. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
Ondrej Kopecky opened the scoring in the 17th minute off assists from Pierre Guerin and Ty Kuiper before converting a penalty kick in the 35th minute to send Young Harris into halftime with a 2-0 advantage.
The Mountain Lions broke the match open with five goals in the second half. Noah Epailly and Daniel Osorno each scored twice, while Ezekiel Ortiz added the final goal in the 86th minute. Philip Abda recorded two assists, with Luka Vasiljevic and Fredrik Berge also adding assists.
Young Harris controlled the match offensively, outshooting King 31-5 with 15 shots on goal. Tommaso Morsoletto and Marcelo Russo combined for the shutout, with Morsoletto making two saves.
