YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College Men's Soccer program is excited to welcome a familiar face to its coaching staff, as Sergio Llopart joins the Mountain Lions as an Assistant Coach and YHC Recreation Intern, Head Coach Dean Grey announced.
"I'm incredibly honored to be part of the coaching staff," said Llopart. "After playing at Young Harris for four years, I feel confident in our system and fully understand the style of play we strive for. I'm excited to help my former teammates grow, push their limits, and give everything they have each time they step onto the pitch, because when you're out there, nothing else matters but the game. Even though I now live across the pond, Young Harris has been my home, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm truly grateful for this opportunity and eager to make a meaningful impact on the program. At the end of the day, my biggest goal is simple: I want to win."
Llopart, a native of Palma de Mallorca, Spain, is a 2025 graduate of Young Harris College, where he earned his degree in Theater Design and Production. A dynamic right wingback wearing number 11, Llopart played all four years for the Mountain Lions, helping lead the team to a Regular Season and Conference Championship as a freshman in 2021. The team also claimed the Southwest Division title in back-to-back seasons (2023 & 2024).
Llopart's collegiate career was marked by consistent excellence both on and off the field. As a sophomore, he was named to the College Sports Communicators Division II Men's Soccer All-District Team, the Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer Team of Academic Distinction, and the PBC Presidential Honor Roll. His senior season was especially impressive, earning All-Conference Team honors, scoring eight goals, and recording seven assists; including a memorable hat trick in just 57 minutes during the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. He was also recognized multiple times as Player of the Match and Mountain Lion of the Week.
While this marks Llopart's first official collegiate coaching role, he brings valuable experience from youth soccer camps and a deep understanding of the Mountain Lions' culture and playing philosophy. He is expected to work closely with the attacking unit, focusing on finishing and crossing to sharpen the team's offensive edge.
Sergio's transition from standout player to coach reflects his commitment, work ethic, and passion for Young Harris Soccer. His addition to the staff strengthens the program's foundation and continues the tradition of alumni returning to lead the next generation of Mountain Lions.
