SUMTER, S.C. | After an impressive first-round win, the Young Harris College women's tennis team saw its run in the 2025 Conference Carolinas Tournament come to a close on Friday (Apr. 25) afternoon at the Palmetto Tennis Center. The Mountain Lions battled hard against the No. 3-seeded Barton College Bulldogs, pushing the match to the wire before falling 4-3 in a thrilling quarterfinal clash.Â
Young Harris dropped a tightly contested doubles point to open the match but showed incredible resilience in singles play, storming back to tie things up at 3-3 before Barton narrowly clinched the deciding point.Â

Futaba Saito delivered a gutsy comeback on court four, taking down Barton's Irma Granstam in three sets (4-6, 6-1, 6-1) to bring the Mountain Lions within one.Â

Callie Stanfield capped off her strong tournament showing with a three-set win at No. 6 singles (5-7, 7-5, 6-4), knotting the match at 3-3 and setting up a dramatic finish.Â

In a marathon match on court three, Viviana Gomez battled to three sets against Barton's Ruya Mavi, ultimately falling 4-6, 6-3, 6-7 (7-9) in one of the most competitive showdowns of the afternoon.Â
