YH Women's Basketball Season Comes to an End in Spartanburg

In the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas tournament, the Mountain Lions couldn’t find their offensive groove and fell short to the Francis Marion Patriots with a final score of 44-78 (Mar 8th).

SPARTANBURG, SC. In the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas tournament, the Mountain Lions couldn't find their offensive groove and fell short to the Francis Marion Patriots with a final score of 44-78 (Mar 8th).

The Mountain Lions 2025 campaign comes to an end. With an overall record of 22-9, YH had an impressive year. They went 14-6 in Conference Carolinas play and dominated at home with a 15-2 record. Individual accolades were distributed to athletes on this team as well, with Annalise Malone being named CC Player of the Year & 1st team All-Conference and Parehuia Delamere was awarded All-Defensive Team honors.

QUOTING HEAD COACH LINDSEY HUFFMAN:
"This was a tough one. Credit to Francis Marion because they played a heck of a game. They came out on fire, and we never recovered. But I couldn't be prouder of this team - especially these two (Parehuia Delamere and Lilly Griffith). They don't get enough credit for all the hard work they put in and how much they want to win. It's hard to see the season come to an end. I'm so grateful for these girls beside me and the team for all they accomplished. I'm hoping when we take some time and return to campus we can reflect on this season and be proud of what we've done this year."

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • The 1st quarter was rocky for Young Harris, who trailed Francis Marion 9-22.
  • Kamryn Bates (10), Annalise Malone (9), and Chassidy Fedd (8) were the leading scorers for YH.
  • Annalise Malone neared a double-double with nine boards as well.
  • The Mountain Lions committed 20 turnovers to the Patriots 14.
  • FMU performed well with rebounds through the entire 40 minutes. They out rebounded YH on both sides of the ball for second chance point opportunities.

The Mountain Lions will take some time off and begin preparing for the 2025-2026 campaign beginning in November.
