HARROGATE, TN & WISE, VA| The Mountain Lions women's tennis team played three matches this past weekend (Feb. 8-9). Young Harris put together a couple of great individual battles and came out on top against UVA Wise in the final match. 

The Mountain Lions move to 1-3 overall in the young season. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

MATCH ONE:

• The Mountain Lions fell to Carson-Newman University, 2-4. 

• The Eagles bested YH in doubles, earning the point. 

• Holly Ashford and Maud Scholten won their doubles match 4-2. 

• Simone Mercier took down her opponent (6-3, 5-7, & 10-4). 

• Callie Stanfield won her singles match (6-1 and 6-3). 

MATCH TWO: 

• YH was defeated by Lincoln Memorial University, 1-4. 

• The Mountain Lions were bested by the Rail-splitters in doubles. 

• Maud Scholten earned the lone Young Harris singles win (6-2 and 6-3). 

MATCH THREE: 

• The Mountain Lions dominated UVA Wise, winning 7-0. 

• The pairings of Mercier & Saito and Ashford & Scholten earned YH the doubles point. 

• All six Mountain Lions won their singles matches. 

• Simone Mercier (6-1 & 7-6), Viviana Gomez (6-4 & 6-4), Scholten (2-6, 6-1, & 10-4), Saito (7-6 & 6-4), Ashford (6-0, 1-6, & 10-4), and Stanfield (6-1 and 6-4).
