GREENVILLE, S.C. | The Young Harris College men's golf team began their 2025 championship season campaign with a strong showing at the Bearcat Spring Invitational (Feb. 3-4), finishing with a team score of 905. The Mountain Lions posted rounds of 303 in both the first and second rounds before closing with a 299 in the final round; YH finished 8th overall in the tournament, with Wingate (even-par) taking home the invitational victory.

QUOTE FROM DIRECTOR OF GOLF JOHN LICHTENWALNER:
"It was nice to get our spring season started early, but there were definitely signs of rust from the winter break. For example, I saw way too many bogies on par 5's. Individually, it was good to see Adrian finish in the top 20. We will spend the next couple weeks cleaning up the simple things, and we will also play a few qualifying rounds to determine the lineup for our next event."

INSIDE THE SCORECARD:

  • Freshman Adrian Ronn led the way for Young Harris, securing a tie for 18th place with a total score of 220. Ronn carded a 73 (+1) in the opening round, followed by a 75 (+3) in round two, before finishing strong with an even-par 72 in the final round.

  • Senior John McCracken recorded a 227, placing him in a tie for 36th. McCracken posted back-to-back rounds of 76 (+4) before closing with a 75 (+3) in the final round.

  • Will Ranieri and Ruben Lindstrom both finished in a tie for 42nd place at 229. Ranieri posted rounds of 75 (+3), 78 (+6), and 76 (+4), while Lindstrom opened with a 79 (+7), bounced back with a 74 (+2), and closed with a 76 (+4).

  • Sophomore Cooper Joy rounded out the Mountain Lions' lineup, finishing 71st with a total score of 247.
