YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's tennis team opened Conference Carolinas play in dominant fashion, claiming a 5-2 victory over Converse University at the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.
With the win, the Mountain Lions improve to 3-4Â on the season.

Young Harris took control early, securing the doubles point with strong performances across all three courts. The duos of Futaba Saito & Simone Mercier (6-1) and Holly Ashford & Maud Scholten (6-4) clinched the point for the Mountain Lions.
The Mountain Lions carried their momentum into singles play, winning four of the six matchups to seal the victory.
- Viviana Gomez (#2) and Maud Scholten (#3) both fought through tight sets to earn hard-fought wins, with Gomez taking a 7-6, 6-1 victory and Scholten prevailing 6-3, 7-6.
- Futaba Saito (#4) dominated from the baseline, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 win.
- Callie Stanfield (#6) capped off the match with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Young Harris battled in the top and fifth singles spots, but Converse was able to claim wins in both matches.
